well earlier today I asked for help to go from dvd+rw to dvd+r, and that was answered. Now I have a problem copying a dvd+r to a dvd+r. I have used smartripper to rip the files and it locks up in the middle of the rip process. Then I tried Nero 6 to copy the movie and it stalls out also, I get an error that it cannot be copied. I have tried recordnow to copy the dvd+r to dvd+r and I get an error there as well. Any help on why this is happening to me would be most helpful.

    256 ram
    1 dvd combi drive (dvd/rw)
    1 HP dvd writer

ripping a burned copy is the same as a pressed disc ie manufactured, just you wont have the copy protection. you can make an ISO image with dvd decrypter or rip the files, use ifoedit and make sure to get vts sectors so alls kosher. there are dozens of guides on here that tell you how to extract these files without using allinone programs that overall limited your understanding of this game.

    You could try this

Use DVD DECRYPTER in ISO READ mode to RIP the DVD to your HDD then use DVD DECRYPTER in ISO WRITE mode to BURN to a DVD recordable.

I have done exactly what you said and it still hangs up (stops responding) during the ripping process. I really appreciate your help...but I was wondering why you made the comment about allinone progs limiting me?
My first try at this was using smartripper.

    Hey b1tchm4gn3t,

i dont need the info, when that info comes up press the picture showing a copy from the DVD to your harddrive. this will create an image of the DVD on your harddrive.

after thats complete run DVD DECRYPTER and do ISO Write and write the image that was created to your DVD Blank

Same thing....I am trying to burn'the core' from dvd+r to dvd+r and I did exactly what you said and it rips to the HD then stops at 39%. I also tried to do the exact same thing with 'sweet home alabama' and it does the same thing but stops at 51%. It seems as if it just stops reading during the process but the drive lite is on, and I have tried both of my dvd-rom drives. And I went beyond your advice and also tried smartripper and copt to dvd.

I run DVDDecrypter all of the time for +R's created in my Philips 985 recorder. All modes....all work perfectly. I even get the opening Philips menu on my rips.
Have you treid playing the DVD for a while in your DVD player software?
A few minutes of play should be all you need....IF this trick helps.

ok...I ran dvd decrypter yet again...same results...But I wrote down the error this time.

    I/O Error!

    Interpetation: unrecovered read error

I have basically copied a dvd to dvd+rw with dvd x copy, then took THAT dvd+rw and ripped and burned that to a dvd+r....and now for some reason I cant copy that dvd+r to a dvd+r, and I know some of you may be wondering why I am doing this in the first place, and what I say to that is basically I just want to learn all aspects of this and learn all I can. I appreciate all the responses I have received.

  12. I'm not sure why you are using something like DVD Ripper or DVDDecrypter.. If it is already a DVD+R just copy the entire TS_VIDEO folder over your HD then use Nero or whatever to burn it back onto the new DVD+R.. no need to rip it.

  13. iv been getting the status: incomplete thing a few times now on certain copied dvds
but its strange because as soon as i burned the dvd i put it back into the pc and checked it, and it says status: complete, now it says incomplete, and i cant read it at all.
could this be a hardware problem with the actual writers?

the movie works fine on my standalone dvd player, but wont read properly on pc.

In my experience, if I make a dvd with DVDSHRINK and NERO 6 I cant seem to play the movie back in POWERDVD without an error. Try using windows media player.
