Maybe your p[layer doesn't support MP2 audio in DVD's? Does it play SVCD's or VCD's? Does it play MP3's?

You can try a different DVD player or change the audio type when you make your DVD's. TMPGEnc DVD Author with the AC3 plug-in will allow you to use AC3."Art is making something out of nothing and selling it." - Frank Zappa
