    Hi!

What application or application will allow me to stick a disk in the DVD drive, and it feedback to me a graphical look of the design of the disk.

Like this menu goes to here, this menu includes this programing, these are the jump commands, etc.

Without sounding silly, do they have such thing?

    name?

    Thanks for input!

IFO Edit will give you a text layout.

IFO Update will give you a graphical view of one VTS at a time, but not menu commands.

    Vobedit - text menu commands

Menu Edit (paid version) allows you to see and edit cell/vob commands of menus.

    Thanks For FaST response!

Let me ask. I am using this commerical DVD series as practice becuase it has many sub-menus and the commands in the IFO seem complicated. (at least to me beacuse I am still new.

lets say I wanted to keep the orginal menus, but cut out certain warnings and fix buttons within the menu, which are currently broken. (I figured out how to remove warnings, using IFO edit.) the problem is that after 1 of the 4 movies plays the disks stop. I could press play and the main menu would then come up, but it would be cooler if the playback would just return to the main menu on its own. (I removed all commands and just added a simple jump command to the IFO. This bypassed the warnings. But when the movie is finished, the whole disks ends.

so my first problem is figuring out how to get a jump command back to the main menu, after a movie has finished playing and

problem two: if you click the HOME menu button while the disk is in a menu or sub-menu, the disks ends. I presume because some variable or program is now missing, deleted or whatever due to my quick fix method, it is not working correct. (I bet my fix is not perfect. )

anyway... problem two seems a little more complicated, I don't know how to fix button pointers (or whatever it is called) within menus and submenus, but if I could figure that out, that would be great too.

    Any ideas. THanks!

If you only hit delete playback, with out changing the commands for that IFO, and every IFO which then points to that VOB ID, then the disc will do what you described.

You also need to add a post command to tell the DVD Player what to do at the end of the last play. Have it jump to where you want, next title, title menu etc.

Since you already added commands, I have the confidence you can figure this out too

The easy way is to get Menu Edit which allows you to delete, add, and modify menu buttons in any way you want. I use this to delete buttons, and to reprogram them to do what they should.

I also use IFO Edit (as you did) to make the first play the main menu.

There are great threads at doom9 by 2COOL about IFO Edit. Many cheat sheets, http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=43142

great post... I am still reading the linked threads

hey is there a link/thread for an explanation of the DVD menu commands somewhere?

I need a jump command i.e. JumpSS VTSM on VTS 2, ttn 8, root_menu(I am not sure what value=root_menu). The hex value of this as reported in Ifoedit is 30 06 00 08 02 83 00 00) MenuEdit will let me edit the command by putting a value for titleset, title, and then menu, but the format in MenuEdit is different and won't accept it in HEX and will not accept the input command in common words i.e. "root_menu" as this value can be edited in Ifoedit.

MenuEdit will let me add the command JumpSS VTSM (vts 8, title 2, menu 0) with a HEX value (it can't be edited) of 30 06 00 02 08 80 00 00. So I am SURE what the root_menu value needs to be in IfoEdit but I am NOT sure HOW to put this value (is it menu=0?) [in url=https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=227#comments]MenuEdit[/url]? I know I have the right menu value in IfoEdit as 30 06 00 08 02 83 00 00 but I can't seem to be able to tell MenuEdit to put this command on one of the menu buttons. Can Someone expain this? Is this clear?

Currently I am trying to add a Post Jump command, but I think the command is not in the right place, because after one of the videos plays, the dvd stops (i.e. the playback doesn't return to the main menu. All play back stops and that is that.)

Can you help with any of this? And thanks for the previous answers/pointers it has been a great help.

I have the paid version of Menu Edit, it lets me input hex

Put the cursor on the first value, and as you type, each value is over written, I don't think copy and paste works, nor the number pad.

I have the regisered version too. Ah... must be how I am typing this in. How about DvdRdMake? you have any experience/use with that one?

you know... I think I have hidden jump command in this video title set. I can seem to find where this happens though. I have added post command jump to the current main vts, but it doesn't do anything... in terms of bring me back to the main dvd menu or sub-menu. It just stops playing.

    thanks!

One other thing, what is the auto check box for next to the command in menuedit? (when you edit a command, you can check or uncheck the "auto" box.)

    Thanks!

When auto is checked, upon navigation to the button, the command automactically done.

I d/l remake awhile ago in demo mode, didn't play with it much.

ok, so the auto box, is how the "button" will behave when it is pressed? So... if a user navigates to the button, without pressing the enter button, the menu will execute that command? (assuming the auto box is checked?) is that what we are talking about?

    Thanks!

Also... i don't get the use of IfoUpdate... I don't know what I should put in the field "authored IFO path." I guess I should see the light with IFOUpdate, but I don't see it. sunglasses? 8)

On paper yes, in real life

Sometimes it works, sometimes not. Haven't used it enough to figure out why it doesn't work all the time.

IFO Update is for when you reauthor parts of a DVD, then want to combine it with the rest of the untouched DVD.

    For example -

You have 4 VTS's, but re encode VTS_02, and you reauthored VTS_02 with Maestro, Scenarist what ever....

It takes the time tables, ADMAP, subpictures, audio and other things, and merges the new data with the original IFO.

Check out guides on the "Big 3" that use DoItFast4U, Reauthorist, and Scenarist.

To just check a layout, you only need original IFO.

I feel dumb... I only heard of one of the big three. (and then that was only becuase I ran into it on another post in a guide about VTS command structures)

Anyway, these big three apps, are these re-author programs? or are these encoders? (both? neither?)

    ok multiple choice...

    a. none of the above.
    b. all of the above.
    c. wrong question.
    d. some of the above.

DoItFast4U decrypts a dvd (w/DVD Decrypter) according to IFO layout, and splits the streams (.m2v, .ac3, and subs), creates .d2v files and avs files ready for re encoding.

Reauthorist looks at the output from DoItFast4U, and generates a script file for Sonic Scenarist to import, and calculates the bitrate needed to re encode.

Scenarist opens the scp (script file) that Reauthorist put out, imports your re encoded .m2vs, the .ac3 and subtitles files, and lays everything out in a structure almost exactly identical to the original DVD. Compile the project.

Run IFO Update to combine the authored IFOs with the Original IFOs.

    That's a pretty simple explanation

    here's a guide http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/ra-guide.htm

    yea, that's pretty simple...

so... did you ever feel like you were in grade school again... and were dropped off at graduate school?

Hee... hee... well I guess it will take some time to learn all of this, yes? I figure learning how pro disks are created will give some experience to how this all works behind the scenes.

    THANKS!

Every time a brand new app comes out, or I find one.

Read the guides, and search both DVDRHELP and doom9 forums. Both are a wealth of information.

I've been able to find 99% of all my answeres between the 2, the other 1% I just guessed at and got lucky
