Tnx but i want to have Liteons list for warranty purposes

ddr,
Would you explain that, please?
What in the hell can the brand of blank have to do with the warranty?
This is not a Chevrolet car, where you must use Chevrolet oil, or, if your engine siezes, tough luck, buddy.
(That was a metaphor, you are not required to use Chevy oil, anymore than you MUST use Epson only carts in an Epson printer)
Use any brand you want, at the price you can afford, so long as your standalone will play them.

Ok this is the deal i had a Liteon 851S that was broken.
In the store they said to me that i had used bad media when i said that i had used Memorex +/- Princo- And SW Technologies.
I know they are low budget brands but i am certain that Liteon had at least one of them on their list.
But now it does not matter because i got all my money back anywayNever argue with idiots, they will drag you down to their level and beat you with experience -
ddr,
OK, there was 1 model that supposedly would self destruct if you tried, I think, 2X or something without a firmware flash. Other than that, you will not damage a drive with "bad" media.
It may not like it, and give you poor results, but that is what this forum is about, what will give the best burn, and, for some of us, at the lowest price.
The professionals have one set of criteria, the absolutely most compatible medium, so their clients are happy and would gladly refer a new client to that pro.
For most of us it is a medium that will play in our own player so the kids/grands can play a DVD without damaging the costly original. If it plays in the family's players, too, great, as you can take it to their house and watch with them..
Ethically, if not actually legally, as it is still a grey area, that is still the way it seems to be. If you are there as it is being watched, you can't be watching it at home, so it would be as if you never copied it, if you can follow this logic.
I have an 851, and a 411, and have not found any media that ithey won't take. I haven't tried them all, but they will not harm the player.
Don't be afraid to try another. LiteOns are the best value, if not the absolute best machine, and I would argue that they are, at least for a home user.

I've yet to burn a coaster using Ritek G04 in my 851S. Meritline is a good place to get 50 for about $50 if you want to give it a shot.
Now, I just need to find an inexpensive disc that allows me to burn at 8x without coasters. -
For 8x burning, get some RICOHJPNR01 discs (4x-rated). They are fairly good quality. And they burn very nicely at 8x. All you'll need to do is hack the firmware to allow it to burn 4x media at 8x, which isn't very hard, as there are tools out there now that take care of the hacking for you.
