Does anyone know if there is a way to convert a standard digital video definition to a high definition?

  2. There are ways to "up-convert" a video signal from standard-def data rates to high-def data rates, but the image will be no better than standard-def. You cannot improve the original quality of the video (contrary to what many TV shows seem to imply).

You're better off sticking with the standard-def, because you won't get improved resolution, and it'll consume less storage space in standard-def form.

Converting video or still pictures from a lower to higher res usually gives lousy results.

    Impossible.
Just like you can't turn a rotten banana peel into a full ripe banana.
Or put dogfood in the microwave and take out filet mignon.

Many thanks for all your responses. I suspect that that would the answer. It's like the old saying "junk in junk out" thing.

    Thanks!
