  1. I was burning the fifth session in a multissession data DVD in ISO mode with Nero 6.
But that session never got finished: I did shutdown my PC, as after 15 minutes to burn 200 MB, the drive was still blinking and Nero couldn't finish the task.

After rebooting, the drive - BA version -starts blinking even before it gets BIOS information.

Please tell me what you think it can be...

  3. I was afraid of that.
I'm repacking and sending it back to the shop.
From your own experience, I guess, this can be an usual "desease" on that model.

    Thanks

  4. I have had this problem twice. Once after a week of use then 10 months later (now). The first time I got a replacement and this time Sony are repairing it.
I am quite annoyed that this is a common cancer of this model

  5. I have received a call from Sony, infoming that somebody, provided with an mail envelope, will come to my home to pick the drive and post it to Belgium via DHL express mail.

I live in Portugal, but their central service assistance for this kind of devices is given abroad.

Wait and see, while my HD drives are getting off space.

  6. also try uninstallling it in system & then restart the computer.

  7. That was the first recommendation that was given by the reseller.

After reinstalling it again, as soon the power is on, the drive's light restarts blinking and never stopping.

As I said previously, it seems the drive is in a continual burning.

  8. Yeah mine is also going to Belgium so there is at least 2 people with the same problem.

I can see why you think it is continually burning but I think the flashing light is a form of error message. I think when the laser stops functioning correctly the light flashes like it does. Therefore there is no software solution. As I said before this happened to me twice on different units so Im pissed of already.

Also here is something for you to worry about. What happens when our warrenty runs out and this happens again. Believe me Im not paying to get it fixed Im gonna demand that it is fixed.

PS Let me know when you get your drive back. Ill be watching this forum and will also put a message on.

  11. Congratulations Raminder.
Unfortunately I still have to wait. Unlike it was promised, they only post it on Tuesday, March 30th.

  12. Hmm...
Well, before sending it in, could you try to flash the firmware as the last resort?

  13. No that don't work because the drive is not in fully working order and therefore you cannot flash the firmware

This is a real disease of this unit and Sony know it

  14. I understand what you mean and in fact I don't even know if the flash will be durable. Just that since the author (of the thread) is going to send the drive to repair anyway, I don't find any (more) harm to it, but I do find some hope in the attempt.

  15. Good point.

Well now that he has sent it off it doesnt matter and if they are quick like they were with me he should get the unit back very soon

  16. I received my unit back - repaired- just a week ago. they said the delivery couldn't be earlier due Easter long holiday in Belgium, and I understand.
Meantime it has been fully working with no problems.

According knowlege learnt in this forum, maybe is preferible to get it repaired instead of a replacement by a new one.

I'm satified with the rendered customer service. No more complaints, I hope.
