I got this writer a few days ago, and have been unable to burn any discs. Nero gives me power calibration errors and the software that came with it gives me bad media errors. From reading the posts here and searching other forums it seems that bad media is usually the cause, but so far I've tried: hp dvd+r and rw that came with it, memorex +r and +rw, mitsumi -r, and princo cdrs. None of them even started the burning process.
One of the other causes I read about was a bad power supply, so I tried the drive in my friend's machine and came up with the same results.
Is there anything else I can try before I take it back?

Have a quick look at the comments on this page https://www.videohelp.com/dvdwriters.php?DVDnameid=245&Search=Search&list=0#comments
Then take it back and swap it for a different make.
