I've noticed that DVD-ROM drives are much noisier when playing DVD+R then when playing DVD-R. I was intalling an IDE drive in my Daewoo DVD-5800 and the Liteon 163 was very loud when playing DVD+R but not DVD-R. I tried an Hitachi 12X and it was very loud playing DVD+R. I tried a cheap Pine DVD-Rom and was quiet playing DVD+R,it did make a loud sound on startup but became quiet very quickly.
It's loud whirring sound like the motors are over-spinning.
Any guesses why. I had noticed this loud sound in my computer with Liteon but I assumed it was the fans in my computer but it's the drive.
