Pioneer 510 chapter confusion!

Hi guys,

Here's my understanding of chapters with the 510 please correct if it's wrong.

Cannot create chapters automatically when recording directly to the HDD.

When transferring a recording from the HDD to a dvd you cannot create chapters automatically even in video mode.

You can create chapters automatically when recording directly to a dvd in video mode. The downside is that you cannot transfer it back to the HDD in "high speed" mode.

You cannot create chapters when recording directly to a dvd in VR mode. Upside is that you can copy back to the HDD in "high speed" mode.


Don't understand the logic in this!! Am I missing something?

I think you discovered what I beleive is a malfunction with the HDD. I spoke to Pioneer Support, who comfirmed auto chapter marks should be created on copy from HDD to DVD unless the feature was turned off in the menu. Mine worked for about two weeks, then suddenly stopped. The manial suggests auto chapter marks are inserted in HDD to DVD copy in video mode.

I think we have a problem.

Chapters are only created when recording to DVD in real time and in video mode.
