I'm in the middle of authoring a project which, once it's completed and ready to burn to DVD-R, I'd like to be able to set a parental-control flag on the disc so the kiddies can't watch it.

It's a "cabaret"-style costume-and-talent show at a sci-fi/fantasy con, and some of the acts in the second, late-night half get just a tad risque, so ideally I'd like to be able to just lock certain chapters, but I'll settle for locking the whole disc if necessary.

I'm using ULead DVD Workshop v1.3 to author the disc -- and while DVDWS doesn't have this capability, it can be made to output the result to a standard VIDEO_TS/IFO/BUP/VOB fileset, so I can go into the IFO files with IFOedit and tweak the settings. Problem is, not being an expert on the byzantine ins-and-outs of the IFO data structures, I don't know what the heck to edit.

Anyone know how to do this, or where I might find info about it?

(Solutions involving the purchase or... *ahem*... "aquisition" of multi-thousand-dollar programs will be cheerfully ignored. DVDWS and Media Studio Pro 7 took a big enough bite out of my wallet as it is; I'm still paying off the credit-card balance on those!)

And Scenarist costs how much, again? :P

I reiterate: Answers involving freeware or <$100 shareware are helpful.

Answers involving >$1000 commercial programs are not helpful.

Surely, someone must know how to do this... Anyone? Anyone? Beuller?

  4. I was searching the forum's for setting the parental control, the only topic was this one... Did anyone now if ifoedit is capable of adding parental control info? Or adding it after the vob's, ifo's created?

    Thanks
