just curious how you guys store them. Do you get dvd cases and print out front and back covers and do you print the labels that go directly on the cd itself?

i just started and only have about 8 dvd backups and just curious... i was thinking of printing out covers to fit in a regular cd jewel case (not dvd case) and keeping them in there.... but cant find any covers to download in a cd case size, only dvd case sizes

  2. I keep them in dvd cases and print out their covers, currently I don't do anything else than writing the title on the disc.

Maybe I'll make an template\outlay for Photoshop so I could make my own dvd covers to be used with jewel cases.

ya just seems too expensive to buy dvd cases, cd sticky labels, etc

i would rather just use the jewel case that the dvd-rs came in and then just print covers for that and just be paying for paper and the dvd-rs...

so tell me, if you were to save a jpg of a dvd cover and then pull it up in coreldraw or photoshop or whatever... how would u make it fit in a square instead of a rectangle? everything is either gonna be squished or erased....

I scan the cover as a JPEG. Then go into Excel and import the picture. I then resize it by draging it to the appropriate row and column (set these up before hand). Print it out and your good to go everytime. I am sure there are a million ways to do it but this is easy for me.

    I buy DVD cases...100 for like $32.00.

Since I sell orginal DVD videos I buy the cases to put my videos in so I just use some of them.

I just write on the discs I backup and the case labels are just index cards wrapped around the edge under the plastic.

  7. Black CD booklet holds 92 cd or dvd stick them in and I use a Sharpie to label them LOL

  8. After I watch them I just put them in the case they came from. Wish I could find more of those cases. Cake boxes or whatever they are called. Otherwise slimline cases which were about $7 per 100.

  9. I bought a CD Binder for 64 CDs...its saves a heck of alot of space and takes up way less room.

No money wasted on paper, ink, covers or cases.

I can get two CD Binders for $15 Canadian. 8)

Simply, in sleeves, in media boxes. The less space they take up, the better!!

DVD cases are rather cheap. You can buy 25/100 for $9.75/$33 at shop4tech or 100 for $28 @ Rima.

    Here is the HP article...

  14. Use CD binder that holds 200 discs($20)
Label each disc with just a sharpie.
It takes up a lot less space than the DVD or CD cases.

I label mine with a sharpie and store em in the jewel case they come in. I must admit...that stack of cases in my entertainment center is becoming a bit unsightly. I think I'm gonna go with the 200 disc binder method.

I use the normal Jewel Cases and print the front and back covers for them. I get all my covers from http://www.cdcovers.cc under the VCD section.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  17. I buy DVD covers and download and print covers for my DVD backups

If there are more than 1 film in a series I may redo the cover and put 2 movies into one case
eg - Batman - Batman Returns
    Inspector Gadget 1 and 2

I use Cover Pro to print covers
you can custom adjust the size to correct size

I also have around 200 SVCD
I downloaded DVD covers and cropped them to match Jewel cases

I use DVD Profiler to track all my DVD's (450+). It's a free program that downloads stars, release dates, audio-video info, and a whole bunch more. It also includes a custom report designer that will also allow you to design cover panels for DVD and CD cases. The program and all the included artwork is FREE. Personally I started with DVD cases but it quickly became apparent that space would be a major problem. Now I use the thin CD cases (100 for $10 on sale) and just store them alpabetically in cheap plastic trays from Target or Walmart.

DVD Profiler can be found at www.intervocative.com.

If I want to admire cover art....I look at the original. The backup is for nuts n bolts watchin the flick, not admiration. That's why *I* don't print labels.

Besides.....heard too many horror stories about how if u don't have the label perfectly centered, it'll be off balance and won't play in some standalones.

  23. most newbie or the people who are new to this so-called hobby tend to maek their DVD all nice and original as it can be. After their 50 disc or so they will realize it's not worth the trouble and time to make nice dvd cases and all that crap. Take my advice and be in between nice labels and pen written DVD. Don't waste your time printing out nice DVD cover case or investing in those plastic covers. Just buy yourself one of those CD binders that can hold up to 128 or more. Then all you need to do is print out DVD label and stick it to the burn DVD. Some people claim that those sticky label will ruinthe DVD. I had no problem so far with my 80+ DVD.

  24. i store my dvdr's in slimline jewel cases.. you can get 100 of them for $10 from sam's club (transparent multi-color).. as far as labeling them goes, i go to amazon.com and print out a picture of the movie cover and slip it inside of the slimline case..

as far as buying dvd cases, printing out sticky labels & dvd covers, not worth the time or money.. maybe, maybe when dual layer dvd media comes out & down to a reasonable price & i find a good deal on the supplies needed, maybe then i'll do it.

  26. I use a cd box wchich can hold up to 50 discs. quite comfy and you can name the disc title next to the numbers on the paper tag so you donīt have to open the box to see where the movie is located, if you know what I am talking about.
And for fun I have burnt the cover images with the movie

  27. Those are called Cake Boxes. I tried to find someone who sold them but I just keep getting web sites for bakeries. If you're cheap BBV stores have free dvd/vhs cases in the can out back.

I dont really care what they cost, I print the cover with photo paper (a cheap grade mind you) and I also print the glossy dvd labels, and a good dvd case. Just personally I like to have my backups as nice as possible.
If at first you don't succeed; call it version 1.0

  30. binders = bad.. there is constant friction against the disc whenever you carry it around & turn the pages.. not to mention you eventually run out of room.. 100 slimlines for $10 is the best way.. cheap & effective.. like a russian hooker
