I have been having prob's with several avi's for a while and I just ugraded from 98 to xp and now realize that almost all of my avi's are now very jerky......... I have converted some and it was ok but others it remainded jerky when converted to vcd and svcd???
Several of the best ones have the ac3 and I converted the audio to wav using vurtual dub but it made no difference with the video????
I have tried with eo and tmpgenc and the same result............... I am thinking it could be a codec prob but have no idea how to tell which one??
Thnx for any help......

You know anything about avi freeze......... I have several that do it all the time ................ I play it on MP and it freezes but on divx player it is cool....??? I tried to convert from avi to mpeg using eo and or tmpgenc and it freezes at that spot........... I followed the guide for vurtual dub and it says all frames are cool.....................?????
thnx for the help -
Try running the bad avi's through DivFix and set it to cut out bad parts, and make sure you set it to keep the original file just in case. Might not do a damned bit of good but it's worth a shot. The fact that Divx Player works fine as opposed to Windows Media Player ought to tell you that WMP is crap. I stopped using it years ago. Lame.acm is the mp3 decoder you have. Unless you are having a problem with the sound in avi's that have mp3 audio just leave it alone.

LOL............ sound is cool
I am getting the newest version of the div fix.... But as you noted it has never really ever fixed one avi yet................. I have found it useful only when the avi is no complete and then it is not for sure...........
I am getting the newest dirt X as well............... Yea the MP sux but I have found that if I have a prob playing in it my burn will reflex the circumstances as a vcd or svcd.................. and act the same in my dvd player
