I have some Memorex 4X DVD+RW and DVD+R and would like to burn DVD-Video to play on my Xbox. Is there a different setting or mode I would have to burn it with Nero such as UDF/ISO for the xbox to recognize the disc? I see an option that says "Force DVD-Video compatibility mode (require for Xbox TM)" under UDF/ISO but not 100% sure if that is the right mode since I just usually use DVD-Video. Could someone help a newbie out on this subject?

    So Xbox can't play DVD+R's?

  4. Some XBOX's can and some cannot, depends on the laser in your particular machine. I believe that, at this point in time, there are 3 different laser units used in XBOX.

  5. You can't play an DVD+R or any + Medium on an Xbox. Actually a Samsung Drive isn't able to play DVD+R/RW. A possibility to play DVD+R/RW is to link a second dvd drive, that is able to read DVD+R/RW to your Xbox. None of the 3 Laser-types can play DVD+R/RW.

you couldn't be more wrong. I use my xbox as my dvd player in my bedroom, it plays both +r and -r perfectly, it just can't play RW's for me.

So I have a special xbox then? lol

  7. No, you problably have a Thompson drive, they are good for all types of DVD media, but will not play a cdr no matter what you do to it.

we aren't talking about cd-r, we are discussing dvd+r, and the gent above stated that no xbox could play +r media, and I am pointing out that he is wrong.

  9. Lots of Xbox topics.

But if you open the tray & look at a big hole you can see what kind of drive it is, I think a thompson is a perfect U.

  10. I know of a way you can tell which drive you have. If your Xbox can play cd-r and cd-rw then you cant play dvd+r, but if you xbox cant play cd-r or cd-rw then you can play dvd+r.

So basically if I wanted to play a DVD-Video on my xbox then I would have to buy some DVD-R's instead of + for it to recognize?
