  1. i currently have an option to get myself a dvd burner, and i've waited a lotta time for an 8x dvd-r burner to come out in a reasonable price since my dvd player only reads dvd-r, dvd+-rw. (dunno y not dvd+r, but meh)
so... this seems to be a great dvd-r burner, possibly the best.
however, a recent review in cdrinfo.com tarnished this drive and proclaimed it "
and they said the NEC 8xer was the best value one.
the plextor drive seems GREAT, but since it dosen't write 8x dvd-r... not good for me.
i actually don't care if it's 10 or 20 minutes to burn like 4.5 gb, i don't download that much anyway.
so, is this drive a good buy? i don't wanna keep w8ing for the next jump in speed, now seems a good time to get an 8xer

Should u buy one? Read my thread..lol https://www.videohelp.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=210526

I am freakin in luv w/this drive!!

Don't pay attention to a couple of reviews. Pioneer has a history of making great DVD burners w/excellent support. Plus the 'patched' firmwares that come out for them are flippin amazing! hahahaha

Once again though, i aint gonna diss other companies drives cause i dont own them and haven't experienced their drives. All i know is my Sony Dru510a and 107D are AWESOME! :P

  5. cdfreaks also seemed to give the nod to the NEC 2500A over the Pioneer. The drdhelp database user score rates the NEC better (with alot more views also). And its under $100.

C't scans rate the NEC better at 8x speeds and the easy to find at your local store Ricoh 4xs at 6x speeds.

The Pioneer is a good burner too...I wouldn't think you could go wrong either way.
