    Has anyone purchased one of these units?

    I am intersted to find out if I can use it to record to DVD-RAM discs, put the disc in my PC (I have a Creative DVD-RAM drive), edit them & use TMPGEnc to encode. According to their site, this should be possible, but the line, "Advanced MPEG2 Encoding Using Hybrid VBR Technology" worries me.

    Has anyone tried this yet?

    Have not.

    The Price in a few weeks ago in a BestBuy ad was 999.99.

    Philips is bring out two units but want about 2000 for them. You can download a PDF file of either manual and I think of the Panasonic one also.
