  1. I have been making VCD's successfully. If I send VCD's to friends who have CDROM players is there a program that can be included when burning VCD to auto boot the CD on other CD ROM players. I suppose I could render everything in Windows media format and it would self start in the PC format. Recently I sent a VCD along with a copy of VCDP which is the shareware program which plays the VCD.
    Also, mpeg2. Can it be played on a CD ROM player or only DVD player?

    Thanks

  2. WinOnCD automatically puts a little but useful software player called "vcdplay.exe" on the VCDs it writes, but this player also works if you place it in the root directory of VCDs authored with other programs (such as VCDEasy). I usually add an autorun.inf file containing the following lines (icon.ico refers to a small icon that I've made for my VCDs, so this is something that you should probably leave out).

    [autorun]
    OPEN=VCD_PLAY.EXE
    ICON=ICON.ICO

    As to mpeg2 - I don't think VCDPlay supports mpeg2, but I'm not sure. You definitely don't need a DVD-Rom drive to play back mpeg2, but you will need to install an mpeg2 codec, e.g. by installing any software DVD-player.
