Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

YESYESYESYESYESYESYESYESYES. I was meaning to post something about this a month or so ago. Is this the one someone took and was selling on eBay? I know that's pretty low and I think the same kind of thing happend with VCDeasy months ago. I'm usually pretty good with tearing stuff apart. I'd love to have ANY plans for a label printer. The more the merrier.....

To: The village idiot,
You posted in your Lexmark guide posts that someone could send you their Lexmark printer and you would either send it back working as a dvd printer, send it back not converted, or send it back not working at all. I have one I'd like to send you. I understand I'd be responsible for shipping both ways and the fact it may not return working at all. Is the offer still valid? PM me or contact me thru my email address.
Thanks, -
To The village idiot:
Are you saying you have a modifiation to the Epson 600 so it can print on disks? Also, someone said something about your doing the work for a price. Am I reading this right?
I might be able to talk my aunt out of her Epson 600...
-
Nope not taking different models or doing work for people anymore! I have one printer in the queue for someone else, and that will be the first and last request for a different model printer. No I won't convert a printer and send it to you. No I won't comment on any other models of printer, No I don't know if your Canon XYZ will work, No I have no idea if a Lexmark Z605 will work, No I won't go out and buy a different model of printer to test and release so that some low life, bottom feeding scum sucker will take my info and sell it on Ebay. Here is the text of the most recent Ebay low life (now there are 2 of them with Epson printers, this one just offended me the most, so I make it the example):
You are not bidding on the printer itself but on the link to download free information how to convert your plain printer to a CD/DVD printer. This information will show you how to convert Epson printers to print on printable CDs/DVDs. Not just step-by-step information but step-by-step pictures that will lead you through the short process. Printers included Epson 440, 640, 740, 750 or similar inkjet printers. You can use this information to convert just about any printer that has a straight paper feed to print on printable CDs/DVDs.
Anyone that buys a link to FREE infomation that is already on the web is a SIMPERING MORON!
Please note the lack of HP disk printer info on Ebay!
Both of the bottom feeders have info on older Epson and Canon printers. Most all of it stolen from Superimage. Superimage has been modifying printers for a while, but they charge outrageous prices for their modified printers. They also use a cheap trick to get the printer to think that it has paper in it. They simply send a narrow strip of paper into the printer. After the printer finds the paper, then you jam the disk caddy into the printer and print the disk. My Epson does not use the special magic strip of paper, it simply tricks the printer into thinking it is loading media like normal, when the proper amount of time passes, then the caddy flips the switch to tell the printer that media has been loaded. It was all a question of timing. With the Magic paper method, almost any printer that you are willing to cut apart will work! That also allows you to reposition the paper guides to feed papers through the printer, but with the heads raised by 1-1.5mm higher, the spray pattern is not as "precise", so why would you want to bother with printing onto paper after that. Find the Superimage web site, and take a look. This is definately how the bottom feeders are making the Canon printers.
As far as the Epson printer mod goes, yes I have an Epson 640 that I can use to print disks ONLY. No more paper printing with those printers, they just don't have the quality after raising the heads to clear the disks. The old Epsons are really easy to modify too.
At the time I made the Epson mod, there were no Epson model 6xx printers being made or sold that I could find on the web. It is possible Superimage had already discountinued their model 600 mod at that point, but that doesn't really matter. A few months after the Epson and Lexmark mods were posted to this site, the first Ebay low life shows up selling, at that time, a guide for the Epson 6xx printers. Now it has been expanded to the entire chassis style that the 6xx uses. Courtesy of me finding some manuals for the other printers and changing the Epson guide (I think, the timing was nearly the same). For a long time there has been info on modifying some of the Canon printers, which is one reason I stayed away from them. I don't want to simply follow someone else's tracks, where is the challenge in that? If you search the forums, you will also see that certain HP printers can be converted, but that person decided not to release the info. Probably a smart move. I was going to mod one of the cheap HP printers, but then decided not to give more money to the scum suckers.
Please note: No offense meant to persons that are truly a simpering moron, if you truly do not have the mental capacity to be anything else, then we should feel sorry for you. You however will most likely not take offense at that statement for the simple reason that being a simpering moron, you won't know that you have been insulted.
And one last note: There is a model of Canon printer that will print to disks as a factory model. However, it sems they can only be found in Japan, and have been around for at least 1 year. Must be some kind of licensing problem, I know patents are much different in Japan, than in most of the rest of the world. This is the most likely reason for the lack of this printer in the rest of the world. Others have purchased the Canon disk cady and tried it in their US model Canon, but it will not work. There might be different firmware in the non-japan version.Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
Whatever.
If you're mad that other people are selling your work, and would rather nobody know this trick, then no
If you simply made it to help people, and can accepts the ******** in life (as the ones on eBay), then yes, put it back.
DVD Decrypter and DVD Shrink can deal with it. Can you?
When I made lordsmurf.com, I accepted the fact that some info may be abused. In fact, ATI Technologies tech support sends people to my site now. They apparently use it for their video questions.
Have you considered setting up a guide for it on your own page, and then request donations? That may work for you. People do appreciate hard work, and donations are made from time to time.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

the village idiot,
I can understand your frustration but lordsmurf raises a good suggestion..
I almost always donate for freeware and I know many others do, as well.. We do appreciate others' hard work that makes our video editing lives much easier AND much less hard on our wallets. Also, it says something very positive about a person's character who is willing to share his work for "free".. (please don't take that as you are not of 'good' character).
Altho' I've never seen the guide or heard of it, seems many have and want it.. So my vote is to return the guide and add a 'Donate' link.. -
I know you said it is on Ebay... but the question is, is there anyone actually buying that information. I know that I wouldn't pay for information from ebay, because of its second hand nature.
Yes... I would like to see this information as I have an Epson 740 and I am looking to get a new printer, then I can convert the old one. Thanks

Check the sellers feed back. Yes people are buying what is clearly labeled as a link to free public information only. The other guy is at least sending you a file of somekind.
Yes it is pretty sad that people will buy a free public link isn't it?Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
If you made your information easily accessible, wouldn't that take business away from the scum bags on e-bay? Then everybody would be happy except the bastard e-bay people.
A donation link is a good idea like Lordsmurf suggested. -

Isn't it against eBay policy to sell links? I thought so. Report them.

Well not much interest in this guide. I took another look at one of the people selling a similar guide and noticed something odd:
Notice it says Superimage down at the bottom of the printed disk, so I guess they are ripping off Superimage directly.
I think I will watermark all of the photos for the guide and put it back up. I think I might also channel a higher resolution version in PDF through a person and have them sell the PDF on Ebay, just to mess with the other 2 scumbags. So tell everyone that you know not to buy one of the guides from Ebay.Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... It's back.... and 3 scumbags voted that they want to sell it
and they were too cowardly to post a message saying so. Scum sucking low life bottom feeders I hope you all die a horrible and painful death!

From what I have read, it is not the driver! The other people have purchased the caddy, and obtained the other driver and it still willnot work in a USA model printer! You would need to purchase the non USA model and hope the powersupply can be made to work here. If you want to buy one, I would suggest a google search, but maybe one of the members can help you out. You might want to start a new thread as there are many Canon fans that might be interested.

It is a text only group, so you might be able to find a free web interface to read the messages. Unfortunitely, mostly all people want to know is about the cheapest ink, and argue about which brand of printer is best, but sometimes there is some good info.

Make your link very distinct, list the link itself on the page and copyright, and then complain to Ebay about their copyright infringement. May take a little work and some trial and error to set things up right, but there are various ways to trip these slackers up. Easiest is to put it up yourself with their same headings and sell it flat rate at auction cost, or put the link to all the info in your auction for free. Just spoil any idea of profit potential..
Or buy it yourself, wait till the last day to leave feedback, then leave them negative feedback with the link in it. Takes three months, but very satisfying to leave someone truly deserving a negative with little chance for the cheesehead to retaliate, since the feedback will likely time out before they notice..

If you're that upset, be proactive about it. Notify eBay, and if that doesn't work, email the bidders the link and tell them that they need not pay for the links. I did that a couple of times when people were selling freeware and or emulators (or game systems).
If you report him/them to eBay, just tell them that you are the author of the info and have not given permission.
