  1. Hi,

I'm pretty new to this video lark. I have a Hi-8 camera & a S-VHS VCR. I am looking to do the following :-

    1. Convert tapes to digital video.
    2. Edit files with editing software, add transitions etc.
    3. Author edited file to DVD or VCD or SVCD or just burn the file to DVD, (My Yamada Player plays all, even DIVX!)
    4. Record TV to DVD', CD's

To this ends I have bought a Hauppauge WIn TV PVR2 USB. I am extremely pleased with this so far. I believe that this is ideal for (1. & 4.)

For (2.) I have tried ULEAD Videostudio 7 & it seems fine. I tried Premier but it looks a bit too complex for my liking. OK, Ulead may be some way of Premiers capability but It seems pretty easy to use.

For (3) I intend to use Ulead DVD Movie Factory 2 (It came with my H/W)

If I try & keep the original file settings the same all the way through the editing & authoring parts should I come up with good results or would I be much better off trying some alternative products for (2. & 3.).

VideoStudio can author DVD too, so no need for yet another ULead app - I've never used MovieFactory, but I'm under the impression that MF is the "big brother" of VS?
