I am having problems burning a DVD with iDVD4. Here is my set-up and what’s happened so far
G4 dual 1 GHz, 768MB RAM, 660GB HD ( 4, two 250’s, 2 80’s) upper burner ROM from apple, lower is a new PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-107D.
The system profiler recognizes all of these, and the OS is 10.3.2 the iMovie and iDVD are v. 4 the iMovie works fine, imports from my digital camcorder, edits etc. The iDVD opens and I can make simple did menus etc. After selecting motion, I try to make a DVD and it takes 15 min or so to get to stake 4 multiplexing and burning.
My first ‘project’ if slightly over and hour so I select best picture. But after i5t gets to stage 4, it takes forever and might not be doing anything. The barber pole moves, it seems to be working, but I get nothing. I’ve left the machine undisturbed for 24 hours and still no DVD
I went to the apple store Palo Alto and spoke to the ‘genius’ he said it should take this machine 2 hours to do this project. He said to trash the pref for iDVD wish I did, but got the same result. He said he would not be able to help me further. I needed to call apple support. I don’t have apple care, and he said this would cost $$$$, although I found this ODD as iDVD was purchased by me, we know what apple can be like.
Is it possible that even though the sys profiler sees the DVD burner, that toast 6 will burn DVD’s on it, and iDVD4 does not see it although asks for a blank media disk and accepts it?
I’m really stuck her and would appreciate any help or experiences with this problem
thanks rotut

It is my understanding the Pioneer 107 is not yet supported for Apple's iTunes, iPhoto, iDVD and Finder burning. It should be supported in Apple's next OS update.
But you don't have to wait for that. LaCie issued a patch and there also is Patchburn II that provides this support to your burner in OS 10.3.2.
Read about it here: http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/feedback/patchburn2_feedback.html#storytop -
There is also an ongoing discussion at Macintouch.com about iDVD4 problems, which seem to revolve around motion menus causing some projects to stall. You might try the project with a static menu and see if it completes the burn.
