WINDVD 2000 HELP

Hi,
I have WINDVD 200O installed and I tried to play a DVD CD. But WINDVD crashes everytime I try to play the DVD. Can somebody help with suggestions!

what resoltuion are you trying to use? is the disc a PAL disc?

i don't think windvd is very good with PAL dvds. on my computer the picture that is outputted from a PAL 720x576 DVD is only 720x480, meaning that picture detail is always lower that it should be.

the pc always crashes when i use 720x576 as my desktop resolution and try to play a dvd with windvd. it works fine in 1024x768 though. it took me a very, very long time to work this out.

so i no longer bother with it. powerdvd has some picture faults that windvd doesn't have, but i think the faults of powerdvd are much more acceptable than the windvd faults.

powerdvd lets me use 720x576 full screen so that no resizing is done on the picture. this means that the picture is not blurred. if the picture is anamorphic i adjust the vertical size on my monitor.
