I am trying to copy the DVD Shrek using DVD decrypter and Nero 6.
DVD decrypter cracks the disc OK and saves it to the HD. I can use Nero 6 to import the DVD and reduce the quality of some of the extras and remove some of the foreign language tracks. The disc seems to burn OK (I get no error messages). The only odd thing is when Nero starts compiling the first piece of video seems to be repeating itself.
The problem is the final disc will not play on either my PC or my standalone Panasonic DMR E30 recorder.
I have tried copying the disc twice using both Imation and Memorex blank discs, but neither works.
Is there some other copy protection on this disc or have I done something wrong.
Any help is much appreciated.

Have you created other movies that are playable on your PC or Panasonic DMR E30?

Sounds to me like Nero is doing the damage to it.
Once ripped play it from your HD with PowerDVD or WinDVD just to make sure it ripped OK.
But after that I would use DVDshrink or IC7 to reduce it.
Then you can burn it with nero or whatever.
I've never used "Nero 6 to import the DVD and reduce the quality of some of the extras and remove some of the foreign language tracks." So I'm sorry I can't help you there, but I did Shrek with Decrypter, IC7, pdi2iso, Decrypter.
I would check the properties on the disc in explorer just to see if it was all burned first, but typically if the disc burned right, it will at least play on the PC.
You should buy better media....I don't know if that's your problem or not, it could be.
One thing you can do is check the video before you burn it. That way, at least you'll know if it was the reduction method or the burning itself. -
I burned Bad Boys II last week using the same method and media.
I will try using DVD shrink and then burn it with either Nero or Roxio.
Thanks for the help.

I could be wrong on this but I think Nero is a very teritorial burning software. Your issue might be having Roxio and Nero both installed. I don't know if they were both installed when you did Bad Boys 2 but that might be a place to look.
I always do this...basically because I'm a cheap skate....but I always check my DVD at ever step of the way that I can.
I rip it with Decrypter - I check it
I encode it - I check it
I convert it to an ISO - I check it
Then I burn it.
Really troubleshooting a problem, that's probably the best place to start unless you have a pretty good idea of what is going wrong.
There shouldn't be anyother type of protection on the disc once you've ripped it with Decrytper.
Heck...could be you just had a bad couple of discs there. I mean if it worked before...it should work again...right? -
My version of Shrek has two "angles"? Could this be a(your) problem?
