I know these are now "old hat" for many but I've just bought one s/h through ebay to transfer my old VHS tapes of home movies and also some cartridges from my analogue Sony camcorder that haven't been transferred to VHS.

The version I've got came with the MGI VideoWave 4 software. First problem I had was that during the install I got an error that it needed an XP version of the codec. Managed to find an XP version after some searching on the Net.

The dazzle is working OK and will do what I want I think, the only "problem" is that I can't capture audio through the Dazzle I have to connect to the Line In socket of my soundcard. This works fine.

If I look on the audio devices there are 2 entries DVC 80 Audio Capture and DVD 8016k 16bit Audio as well as my normal wave device. If I pick the DVC 80 Audio Capture the Input Source is automatically set to ADC.

Assuming that the audio part of the dazzle is working OK is there a problem with the drivers under XP? Do I need to change my mobo setup to enable sound through the US port?

Has anyone else had this problem and is there a solution?

Just a follow up to my own posting.

Have been browsing around and now see that audio capture through the dazzle seems to be a problem for most people and linking the audio directly to the sound card seems to be the way most people go.

On the subject of sound, I've just done my first test movie and written this to Video CD. I saved the move as DV-AVI and then encoded to mpeg1. Everything seemed OK but whne played back on my DVD player the audio goes out of synch and is about a 5 sec lag over a 20 minute movie.

Can anyone point to any links where I can see what others have said about this problem and hopefully how they got around it?

    Thanks

  4. I bought Studio 8 and a Dazzle DVC 80 about a year ago, as a starter package. The Dazzle card worked great for about seven months, then when Pinnacle released 8.1.4.2.1.5.34.2.1 or whatever it is now, I could no longer capture audio, and video would stop capturing after 3 seconds.

After reinstalling, several emails, and several posts on their board, all I could get was "Dazzle has been acquired by Pinnacle. We're working on this problem."

I finally gave up, and borrowed a digital8 to capture my hi8 tapes.

If anyone knows if this problem has been fixed, please let me know.

Chris 18: if you're so inclined, you can check out the search results at the Pinnacle board here.
