  1. Hi guys,
I have a Liteon LDW-411S and have been having some problems with media.

    When I use Laser DVD-R ( 4.7GB, 4X ) then i cant backup movies.

But then I used a Liteon DVD-R that I got with my DVD burner and this did work.

Does anybody know what type of media will work except for the Liteon dvd-r that is compatible with my model?

    Thanks,
    Alex

  2. never even heard of Laser DVD-R.

try TDK or RITEK, i use the same lite-on 411S with no problems on those 2 medias

  3. I seem to have better luck with +R instead of -R, I've used TDK and Memorex and have had success.

  4. The liteon drive does not come with a -r it comes with a +r, i think ricoh to be more specific. The drive doesn't like cheap media I've noticed, and also prefers +r with the newest firmwares.
    Blah, blah, blah

I have tested with Sony and Memorex +R and +RW no problem, and with the new firmware FS0J will support DVD-ROM Booktype with DVD+RW
    Some Day I will…..

  6. Hi,
    My drive came with a dvd+rw and a dvd-r.
It might be different because I live in New Zealand.
I heard that not all dvd players support dvd+r.
Thats why I initially wanted dvd-r.
Im thinking of buyinf imation dvd-r.
Will these work with my model?
    thanks

With booktype setting set to dvd-rom on your liteon 411s then any dvd+r will work on most dvd players as long as they are good quality discs.

  8. Sorry for the misunderstanding then. About name brand media, sometimes you get a good manufacture sometimes you don't. I was sad to find that Memorex went from ricoh to cmc for their +r, those cheap bastards.
    Blah, blah, blah
