Has anyone come across this error code on the Philips DVDR75:
D8059C7FC
I got this when I was recording on a DVD+R disc. I had just recorded one 20 minute program, and I was about 2 minutes into the second program when everything froze. No response from the remote or the unit. I had to unplug it. Then I go the "unknown data" display, but I was able to repair the disc, minus what I had recorded on the second program and the space it used.
Has anyone else come across this or something similar on the Philips recorders? Any idea what the error code is?
Andy.

Thanks for that PhilipL. I'm waiting to hear back from Philips. (I may have to eat my words after giving this unit such a good rave!)
PhilipL ... have you had a chance to check out the Sony RDRGX7 or RDRGX3? Your thoughts???

Got another one yesterday! I'm eating my words on this recorder:
This time I was editing a +RW disc. I was hiding chapters and I got about a third of the way through the disc when the unit just turned itself off. There was an error code, but I didn't note it down. I thought to myself is this the beginning of another Philips horror story, and in 6 months time will I be kicking myself in the butt for buying this recorder? I decided that I didn't want to take that chance, so I rang the retailer and asked for an exchange. After much debating with the supervisor of the store and being told numerous times that I couldn't do an exchange because I had the unit too long, they finally agreed to take it back and I got the Panasonic E50 as a replacement. (Never accept the first few "no's" from a retailer, just annoy the crap out of them until you get what you want!).
I was really disappointed that the DVDR75 started having problems after nearly 3 weeks of running fault free. I guess this is an all too familiar story. If they could get the bugs out of this thing it would be a great recorder. It's a real shame.
So I'm back to the trusty Panny E50 and feeling somewhat releaved about it too. With the money I got back on my stock of +R/+RW media I picked up the Panasonic NV-HV60 VCR. This is a really nice VCR, as far as VCR's go, and it looks great sitting above the E50 as well!
Live and learn hey.
