  1. Hi everyone, I have a ADVC-100 which has been working great for me...problem is, sometimes, my capture software (I use Studio 7 and WinDV) has trouble recognizing it. It takes a few tries (plugging the firewire cable in and out from the port and/or turning the unit on and off) before whatever capture software I'm using detects it. I tried searching for any threads on my problem but guess I need help from someone to redirect me and/or provide any other possible solution! Thanks!

some firewire cards are better than others for the advc100, and it can seem like the cap sw but it is really the FW card. I think the TI chipset has probs, and some others? there are patches on the canopus site to fix these issues I believe,

I have a ADAPTEC FIREWIRE CARD that I use for my CANOPUS ADVC-100. I have no problems with either one. They work together flawlessly. I've heard it's better to use a dedicated firewire card instead of using one from a sound audigy card.

  4. drewson99 & budz, thanks for your replies!

budz: I have a laptop with a built-in firewire card...is your ADAPTEC firewire card external? Thing is, I always get my ADVC to work in the end...just kinda troublesome having to plug and unplug it a few times before it gets there!

  5. Try using ScenaLyzer Live to capture, then open in your choice of editors. Its the best Ive found to use with my ADVC-100, and has worked flawlessly for me!

Your welcome dubieman! I have a PCI adaptec 4300 firewire card installed on my desktop pc. I also use Scenalyzer Live to capture and it works great with my advc-100. Perhaps getting a dedicated external firewire pcmcia card for your laptop would be best. Then you won't have to unplug and replug just to get your advc-100 to work.
