  1. Hi there, just wondering if anyone knows how many total Tom & Jerry episodes were ever made? I am asking this here because i've read some cartoon threads. I have a bet with someone on this so if someone could please provide a link, that would be great. I've searched google but can't find what I need. I'll keep looking though.

Thanks to anyone who can help.

  5. tgpo, thank you. Do you think you can post links to those stats about the 209 total? Are they on the site you linked? If not, would you mind just posting the links to where you got those stats? Thanks for your help.

It's not HB in 1940, it was MGM.

According to the website in the 40s it was HB. MGM didn't come in until the 60s and continued through the 70s as the distributor.

For accuracy, it's best not to rely on one source - check as many as you can find
Even IMDB makes mistakes and isn't a complete listing.

Here are some of the MGM films with dates -

You say that like they are no longer shown. Tom and Jerry is regularly shown on Cartoon Network over here, and also quite often on terestrial channels. My 10 year old daughter loves them.

They are still shown on the Cartoon Network here (in the US) all the time, and my 6 year old son loves them..... He's not big fan of the Tom and Jerry Kids show they came out with (I think it was in the early 90s?), though, but they don't show that one too often, mainly the "classic" Tom and Jerry.

Exactly! The most I want to hear from Tom or Jerry is some incoherent mumbling, or screaming :P Why make them talk? All I want to see is Jerry set Tom's tail on fire, and Tom try to eat Jerry on a sandwich

Hanna and Barbera were still young guys in the 40s. MGM has been around since the silents. All of the original 90+ T&J toons open with the trademarked lion roaring.

HB, MGM and quite a few others are now part of Time Warner.

CN plays T&J at least twice per day. Boomerang has a lot too, especailly the 70s ones with Grape Ape.
