  1. I just made a copy of a 7.44 GB film with Elby's CloneDVD. CloneDVD shrank it to 4.4 GB and then burnt it to a DVD-R. The copied disc works fine but image quality is inferior to the original. This is a disc we watch fairly often with our children and I would like image quality to be equal to the original.

Is it possible to use CloneDVD to copy to 2 discs so that it would not shrink and therefore image would identical to the original disc?

I am a begineer. I got my burner today.

  2. I dont think you can split a dvd-movie into 2 dvd-r disc with clone-dvd. Try to use dvd-shrink and made a full backup of the original dvd-movie. REMEBER TO USE DVD-SHRINKS DEEP ANALYSIS BEFORE THE BACKUP. It will optimize the quality of the copies, especially if your movie you will copy to fit on one dvd must be very hard compressed to fit that disc.

If you only will use clone-dvd, try to remove unecessery parts from the movie , like the extra material and audio streams you dont need to have.

Are you sure the movie was that big? Are you counting the special features in that? It is possible to burn the special features ONLY on a seperate DVD with CloneDVD. This would give you plenty of room for the movie.

PS If this is not the case then I'm totally stupid.

I heard the new version of Clone can do what you are asking. I believe it comes out this week or next...

you can also use Shrink to copy uncompressed to 2 dvdrs. follow one of the guides on the left. i'm not sure how the menu will work though, since the movie with extras will span across 2 discs instead of one D9. good luck.

  7. The movie is that big. The extras represent 0.5 GB. The movie is thus 6.9 GB. I downloaded the demo vervsion of CLONEDVD V2 and burnt my movie to 2 discs without any problem.

With V2, it is fairly easy to split a movie. I got my burner 2 days ago and it only took me approximately 15 minutes to figure out how to do it. Image quality is perfect. This seems to be a great program.
