over the NEC 2500A. It seems there are two different versions of their 1.06 firmware. One is Dec 2003 the other is Jan 2004 I believe. Many people who are using the earlier version of the firmware seem to get good dvd recording results. While the other firmware takes longer to start recording to DVD. It also seems the drive from what people say has trouble reading alot of cd/dvd's that have any markings or scratches.
It also seems to have alot of trouble with the Ritech G04 dvd-r's. Some with mixed results.
WIth that said, Pioneer just came out with their v1.10 formware for their A07/107 drive. I may end either getting the 106 or 107 Pioneer. I really liked the NEC but after reading those, I'm not entiry to sure about it.
Thoughts, opinions?
