  1. Hi all,

    Just wanted to know if:

    1) 90m and 99min CDrs work on all home DVD players, or if there are complatability issues with them.

    2) when making a XVCD what would be the lowest video bit rate to go down to so that it will work on all home DVD players.

    3) How I can find out if my DVD-RW supports overburning on CDRs or not (do you have a list of the ones which can do this).

    Thanks,

    Icebergx.

    1) Some do and some don't. You will have to test the media to the player. This goes for mors media's and players, CDR/W or DVDR/W/+/- .

2)Some 2 hour KVCD's fit on a 700 MB (800 MB in mode 2) CDR. Again, it's up to your player to deal with it or not.

    3) It probably does, being new. Try it and see? It's only what, 25 cents to test?

As these are out of the CD standard, there's no guarantee it will work in every DVD player ever manufactured, but at least for 90 min CDs, more players will support this, than play XVCD. If compatibility is your concern, stick to 80 min CD-R, and forget about XVCD.
If your burner supports overburning - just try it! No matter what warning Nero gives you, I've never heard of a writer dưing from trying.

  4. What is the difference between XVCDs and KVCDs?
Can KVCDs only be played on NEW DVD players, specially designed players or all players?
What do you mean by 'You will have to test the media to the player'. Do you mean that some brands of CDR will be OK with this, but others won't, or are you talking about the brand/type of writer?
    I've got a Philips DVD+R/RW and I want to burn KVCD/XVCDs that work on most/all stand-alone players.

As always, any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

A contradiction. KVCD is a kind of XVCD, and XVCD is simply a VCD that doesn't comply to standards. No player will explicitly support XVCD, even if many are pretty relaxed as to how strict to apply the VCD standard.
