  1. Damn text limit in title..

Basically I have a tv show dvd I made from compliant mpeg1/vcd mpeg. I have the titles all set up on the main menu, each one has a chapter menu.

When I pop in the disc it plays the first title (for some reason.. don't remember having it do that). If I go back to the menu and pick another, it plays the audio but the video is still on the menu screen. If I stop it the screen's black, and if I resume it stays black and keeps the audio going. If I let it play the first title fine like it does when I put in the DVD and go back to the menu.. and if I select the first title still, it also does the same thing.

This is with Tmpgenc DVD Author btw, playing on a PS2, burned 2 dvds, one with udf/iso, one with nero's dvd-movie setting. Both exhibit the same issue.

WTF's up with this? I'm going to blame it on tmpgenc, but it seems stupid that it has such a problem with something seemingly so simple as different titles.

  2. Crap.. guess it's a PS2 specific bug. Probably related to the software too, but it's certainly a prob with the machine. time for a real dvdr player I guess

  4. Very odd.. we both used different authoring programs..

Your sony, is that a sony dvd player or the ps2? Maybe it's a sony thing (wouldn't surprise me).

Guess I'll give the disc to someone at work and see if it works for them. I can't imagine something so simple being flawed, but again, if it's a sony-only issue I wouldn't be surprised.

  5. i was at a shop.
    pioneer did the job,
    jvc same problem.
my sony is a dvd player

i read somewhere, sound should be AC3,
    i used mp2 (besweet)
but the video is missing, so why blame the audio?

anyone has a hint on that?

Have you tried to create a dvd-vcd without menus?
I'll get back once I have some news...

  7. I created a DVD-VCD with some concerts. It works fine on my PS2! I used the same files as I used on my previous DVD-VCD but this time I skipped the menus. The menu caused the problem. Maybe 'cause the menu video is at a different bitrate than the DVD-VCD-files, which are all at 1150kbps... Guess the PS2 can't handle different bitrates(?).
