  1. I used to have clonedvd as a trial for many years but now you need to exchange a serial for an online key.

Is there any other dvd backup programs like clonedvd, where you can cut out special features and just keep the main movie file?

Please provide program names and links.

    Thanx

  2. Dvd Shrink doesn't really work. When ever you re-author and drag the menu's over, they become buttons. When I watch the movie the menu plays itself and you can't press anything.

Is there another program that allows you to cut out extras and other unwanted parts, like Clonedvd?

there's Intervideo's Dvd Copy version 2 which I've used before, but some of the dvds I've burned don't come close to clonedvd 2 or dvd shrink. I also used Instant Copy by Pinnacle which was fine until dvds started to become 9gb.

I don't think there is any one program that can dow hat you wish to do. You could try dvdshrink, but do a full backuop and set the extras to a still image. The still image will play for the running time of the extra feature.

The other option is to use VObBlanker.
    If in doubt, Google it.

VOB Blanker can get rid of extras by creating a new directory without the extras. Any compressor can work from the newly created directory.

I've never used it but it looked like it could do what this poster wanted.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  8. Just don't update the CloneDVD. The old one just as good as the 'new' one!

The new CloneDVD has DVD+R DL support, if what you want.

DVDXCopy Platinum v3 can also do the job DVD-9 & DVD-5.

Otherwise, DVDFab with DVD Region-Free can do one step DVD-5 back up.

  9. I can't use any clonedvd programs, as they require serials to be exchanged online for a key. Not even the old versions work and if they did they don't have the percentage function where it shows the output video quality.

VOB Blanker is crap, DvdShrink is crap, DVDCOPY is crap.

Surely there is a way around the clonedvd saga?

  10. "as a trial for many years " -> Time to pay

"a way around the clonedvd saga" -> Yes, I know the way. BUT I CAN'T tell you here!!!

    Just search www.google.com under CloneDVD.

    Good luck!
