Please note that this is not a gripe. I think it's great that someone wrote the program and provides it free.
I noticed someone wrote that the new beta version of DVDShrink works with the Pioneer 120 DVDROM. I decided to download that version (3.1.6b1). I replaced my Lite-On with the Pioneer 120. When I tried the program I got the error "Program Error" at 49%. I then decided to try the next beta version. After downloading I rebooted. I inserted the disc and got the same error at the same location. I guess I'll just have to be happy with the Lite-On DVDROM to use DVDShrink.
Thanks for the freebie anyway.

By stating "trying the next version" I meant the version you are referring to.
Thanks. -
Ok, so it doesn't work with the Pioneer...output the files (VIDEO_TS, AUDIO_TS) to your HD and burn them with Nero.
It takes what 10 seconds to close one program and start the other? -
I was the one who posted that it worked with the pioneer 120S. In fact the author of Dvd Shrink obtained a 120S to do the testing on. Initially using the 120S with prior versions would produce an error stating that Dvd Shrink had enountered an error and would now close. This resulted in an incomplete rip that could not be used. The author attributed this to the firmware of the drive. So after testing he was able to overcome this problem, which had to do with the reading of a dual layer break I believe, hence the creation of of 3.6.1b. In fact in testing it was noted that the read and seek time of the dvdrom drive was almost 2 to 3 times quicker than many other drives. This was especally good news in the analysis phase of Dvd Shrink. If your not enountering the error message I indicated above and it is not working for you then your problem may lie elsewhere. I can only tell you how this version worked for me.

Thanks Giga.
Don't get me wrong as I wasn't blaming anyone. I'm happy it works for you. I must have another issue like you said. -
Hi all.
I wouldn't recommend using v3.1.6b right now, unless it is for testing purposes.

My guess is the bug was introduced when trying to fix the Pioneer 120S problem.
Only a guess though. -

I had given up on DVDShrink because of the skipping/freezing problems that you have reported.
I have been using DVD2ONE, IC8 or DVD2DVDR for creating my backups.
I like the features in DVDShrink. Hopefully the issues will be resolved with all of the GREAT effort you and DVDSHRINK are putting into fixing the bugs.
Thanks again
