I have a Sony RDR-GX7 and have been using DVD-RW as I'm sure I read they have better compatibility with more players than DVD+RW, but depending on what site you go to this differs.
I've just purchased a 10 pack of Philips DVD+RW and low and behold I read on the back of my Sony manual that DWD+RW cannot record 16:9, but -RW can. Is this true, or just an issue with my player?
Could some please clarify this (someone who actually knows the answer and not speculation).
Cheers
Mark

...so I'll put my head straight in and speculate...
... that a DVD-RW or DVD+RW wouldn't know 16:9 if it sneaked up and bite it! The 16:9 is something lurking in the MPeg encoding, and since the DVD only has the data written on it, your worries would stop if you know that your writer can write -RW or +RW... better still - test it, if it doesn't work, just clean the disk again!
