    1) DVDShrink
    2) Place the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders to my B's Recorder Gold and burn as data.

  9. A- Use DVD Decrypter 3.1.9.0 (All movie files go into a folder in a 2nd SCSI 15K hard drive)
B- Use DVDShrink 3.0 (Ready to burn movie files go into a VIDEO_TS folder in a 3rd SCSI 15K hard drive). I always burn Movie Only, I don't care about trash)
C- Use Nero 5.5.10.20 (Burn AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS folders as DVD data)

I have found this one to be the best method to burn movies (I mean, related to each version of software utilities, media (Ritek) and my hardware. I very much have tried all others.
Occasionally I would get some burnt movies that freeze but I have found that is due to bad media because a reburn would fix the problem.

    What are your experiences?

  10. dvd decrypter
    dvdshrink
    nero

if you use dvdshrink 3.1.x you dont even have to open up nero. once the files are on your hard drive shrink will take care of the rest.

Seems to be as many ways to do it as there are DVD writer owners! Here's my contribution, to further confuse the matter:
DVDShrink -> imgtools classic -> DVDDecrypter. Not a coaster yet (touch wood).

InterDVD copy platinum. One program is all you need. Put in DVD click copy and burn. Fast. You can use this with anydvd also. I like this program because you can choose chapters you want. You can make VCD, SVCD and Divix.

Usually backup in 1/2 D1, generally get 3 movies on a disk without any extras:

    1. DVD Decrypter
    2. IfoEdit
    3. ChapterXtractor
    4. DVD2AVI
    5. Ac3 Delay Corrector
    6. AVISynth

  14. Squirreldip, I like your process. The gutsiest one listed so far. Do you retain the AC3 audio?

    My process:

DVDdecrypter - rip in file mode
DVDshrink - reauthor. I take the movie only with as much audio and subs as will fit without compression.
IFOedit - to create an image
    DVDdecrypter - burn image

Has worked well for me. I've just now experience my first problem which was Disney's Tarzan. One of the very last chapters causes a lockup on the player (both Pioneer and Phillips). Perhaps it is the media...

    DVD Shrink
    IMG Tool

(I have all the other goodies that you all mention, but that is the easiest and quicest way to back dvds up)
Do you doubt my courage comrade Khoi?

    I'd say, it's the media.
I have reburnt the same DVD-R that is locking up on the standalone DVD player and the new burn plays just fine.

    DVD5 or < 4.3Gbyte Vobs :-

    DVDDecrypter->ISO read/write

    DVD9 - if I can get more than 80% total compression (usually < 2hrs movie) :-

    DVD Shrink, ImgTool, RecordNowMax

    DVD9 - if less than 80% total compression (usually 2hrs+ movie ) :-

DVDDecrypter, DVD2SVCD (DVD mode) using CCE 3 pass, IfoEdit to author the DVD, ImgTool to create the ISO, RecordNowMax to write the DVD.

Pioneer A05 and Ritek Media = not ONE disk in 2 years that cannot be read by a variety of players, no skips, no jumps ....

  18. Afterweeks of testing I simply use DVD shrink and then copy the audio and video folders to create a data dvd using Roxio easy DVD creator.

this is the only way I get 100% perfect copies with no stuttering and on all discs I've tried
    I dunno...it might work
