  1. OK I am tranferring avi files from the net to dvd. I remove all bad frames convert sound to ac3 then use tmpg to convert the video stream to m2v. THen use tmpg dvd author to make the dvd files.
My question is should I use the dvd author to edit the pciture and remove some of the movie like the credits?????

I have burned a few movies and for the most part have all come out fine but I get audio lag maybe off by about 2 -4 seconds and it seems to be consistant for the whole movie.

What else causes the lag at this point?????

Its almost always a problem with avi files from the net, some frames in the avi wont be detected as bad by virualdub but the frame(s) will have a phase look and maybe snow and noise and these frames will throw the audio off,Whenyou watch the avi you wont notice the sync problems, only after encoding. The only thing you can do is look for these bad frames by manually scanning and edit the audio at those parts to add the proper audio delay.

  3. damn that's a lot of scanning !!!!!!!!!!!
i just did princess mononoke 2 hours long man 200000 frames LOL
'and all i got was maybe a 2 sec lag which isn't too bad i think really\\

i can just imagine me sitting at the puter looking at 200k frames cant see it i only do this for my daughter maybe ill tie her down to do it !!!!!

What i did was load the avi in virtualdub and save it again in fast stream mode and thats when you will notice the audio delay, just play parts of the saved avi till you get to the part where the audio gets delayed, then you can spot the bad frames easier.

  5. OIC wont it be a litte hard to find the actual frames where the trouble starts and ends

or do you play it in virtbud?????

Start the clip and then got to half way point and listen then go 3/4 etc then when you get to the spot where the audio goes out of sync just load in virtualdub and go to that spot and scan a bit and you`ll see bad frames. When its starts to go bad it will stay that way till the end of the movie so you dont have to find the end, just hope there isnt other bad frames elsewhere then it gets really scary.

  7. ok sounds good how many frames would cause a 2 second sync????

also each time i find bad frames resave it with direct stream processing just like when checking it the first time.

then recheck by each and sight boy that's pretty low tech if you ask me LOL that's what i thought all these proggies I have were for........

All those program wont fix the frame problem i described,if you dont want to do low tech grunt work and fix the files might as well delete them.I dont edit the frames, all i do is insert audio in the sound track at the affected frame point to make up for the lost audio.I`ve tried taking out 20 second chunks around the bad frames before which didnt help and that was only for a section of a few frames.

Are you joking? I used to quibble about a 0.1 to 02. of a second delay!!

  10. Well what is the best way to deal with audio sync then .....
If virtualbud wont remove the bad frames

    insert audio??????
well doesn't leaving the bad frames casue picture problems when viewing????
as for low tech work im not against doing it i think it's funny that with all the programs out there im left with watching the movie and playing bullseye and guessing where the bad frames might be..

Oh I aslo watched the movie on the puter (avi) and it doesn't show any noticable sync problems at all how do I get the lag in the finished product???
