I bought a previously viewed DVD from a video store for my girlfriend. It has some scratches but is playable. I wanted to make a bkup just in case. I rip it to HD and burn using DVDShrink and the bkup plays fine with sub's in the PC but the subs refuse to show on all my or girlfreind's standalone DVD players (Panasonics, citizens, and norcents). This is the 1st time I ran into this probm. I ripped everything and burned everything. Even did new rip/burn using shrink only and still same probm. Used CloneDVD and the menu got screwed up. Used the following burners, NEC 2500a, Plex 708a and Pioneer A05 all with latest FW. SW used was DVDdecryter, DVDshrink, nero and CloneDVD. Media was Memorex 4X +R and Ritek 4x -R and some RW's. The movie is in Spanish, "lucia y el sexo" (Sex and Lucia). My girl really likes this movie. A romantic Spanish movie ( ). Everything shows up in the menu but the subtitles dont show when playing even tho they are selected. Funny is that they do show up on the PC DVD burners/roms. Anybody seen this and have a solution It would have been cheaper just to buy a new copy considering the cost of the used DVD and 5 blanks and 8 hrs work LOL, but its a challenge right now, pride at stake..

EDIT: Wierd thing is that the subs do appear in the xtras. It seems to be a prob with tht actual movie.

Yes but no subs appear (English nor French). I even copied only the movie and same results. Its a weird probm, I can see the subs in the extras but they dont appear in the movie on the standalones. They do appear on the PC tho. Is no biggie since my GF speaks some spanish, I just wanted to see what all the fuss is about and why she like the movie so much. She saw it is spain and loved the movie. Looks like a real chick flick.
