  1. i got an asus a7n8x deluxe and was wondering what people with surround do. most asus boards, and others these days sacrifice the line in and mic jack on the onboard sound in 6ch surround mode.

do people get another soundcard and then use the line in on that (or vise versa..being the speakers..)

    thanks!

I disable the built-in sound card on my mobo because it's usually el-cheapo
or cause other problems elsewhere's. Sometimes, you don't know till it
    happens.

I use (is best to) another card. Mine is Turtle Beach (santa cruz) card.
    Works great on my pc.

  4. You should either have an adapter or the manufacture might offer it as an option. Mine has onboard surround and the adapter was provided. It plugs into the board and provides those missing jacks you need.

And he's right about getting a good soundcard.... I tried my onboard AC-97 (I ?) and it compares 'not' to my Audigy II card. Both in capture and live. The quality is just not there.

    Good luck.
