    Hi,

I have my Canopus arriving soon and plan on "capturing" old VHSs and coverting them to DVD.

However, the quality of these tapes is not the best due to repeated use and not using the best quality blank tapes - youthful ignorance

A standalone TBC is out of my price range and a JVC S-VHS VCR seems a viable option because not only does it have a TBC but also a S-Video OUT which could prove to be important.

I have looked on the JVC web site and seen the cheapest VCR with TBC is:

    http://www.jvc.co.uk/product.php?id=HR-S7965EK&catid=48&sub=feature#table

It seems to have S-Video Out too according to the manual:

    http://www.jvc.co.uk/files/instruction_manual/lpt0770-001a.pdf

Has anyone used this VHS? What are your opinions of it?

Is it worth the £137.00 being asked for it online (going by Kelkoo's cheapest price).

(I have also seen a second hand HR-S7622EK - any opinions?)

I am very please with my HR-S9900U model; unfortunately I don't have any experience with the specific models you have mentioned. I thought I might also add that there seems to be a HR-S7500EK for sale on e-bay here:

I don't know for sure that it has a built in TBC, but would suspect so given the model number.

The 7900 is a good one. The 7965 is either an update or PAL version, probably just as good.
