Spare me the pro and cons of the quality of the software please... I imagine it works fine for some and not so fine for others..

Where does this information come from?

There's no reference to any free copy of DVDXCopy Platinum on the 321 forum, nor on afterdawn.com's DVDXCopy forum, nor on the main 321 studios Web site. The only reference to "free" is that current customers can get a "ripper-free" version of Platinum if they ask for it.

  4. They were going to give out a universal serial number to activate all versions if they didn't win but the OP forgot that they are appealing so you have to PAY to activate those versions on the studios ftp server which take 22 hours to download cause everyone thinks its free & its not.

  5. Suspect it may have been a reaction by 321 !!
I managed to obtain a copy from the given site (just out of interest) and installed...... it works.
I've just been back but it appears now to be "oversubscribed" that is to say too many people trying.

Grabbed the whole lot because I didn't quite know what I was doing(yeah I know, before anyone starts with the smart a** comments) and it took about 20 Mins.

Incidentally I'm a Shrink fan myself and occassionally Clone DVD / Any DVD.
For VCD / SVCD I use Clad DVD and TEMPEnc.

Mine worked right out of the "box". Took me all of 8 minutes to download. I have used it before and it does work for the most part, although since my "n00b" status has been elevated to "generally know what I am doing" status, I no longer use this product, as opposed to the numerous "n00bs" who peruse this site on a daily basis..
As for where this all started I found it on Ars (where I generally start my day)
