  1. When I try to add a video (Mpg, or MPEG) it comes up with this error message:

"*The video GOP is too long.

The video GOP is too long.
For a standard DVD it is necessary that the GOP fulfill the following condition:

Max 36 fields (18 frames) (NTSC format only)
Max 30 fields (15 frames) (PAL format only)"

    What does this mean?

a GOP is Group Of Pictures. It has a first I frame followed by other frames
which are essentially differences from the I frame.
MPEG2 allows more than the DVD spec. does. Your video was
encoded with more than the legal limit.
Players will frequently play them anyway, If you can fool the authoring
    program into accepting it.
Otherwise you have to fix it by re-encoding .

  3. It does give me to option to "ignore" and add anyway, but warns me that "Ignoring these errors will result in an out of standard DVD"

If I was to re-encode it, what format should I encode it to?

You can try to load/author and burn it, and see if your player accepts it, otherwise you have to encode it within DVD specs. fx load a DVD PAL/NTSC template in tmpgenc.

  5. I guess I will have a go without encoding it again abecause it takes sooo long to encode it in Dvd format. Thx.

  6. Another question:

Can I make a slide show as part of my Dvd in this program?

  7. Not within TDA.
Whatever slide show made would first have to meet standards as detailed in TDA's help file speifications page.

  8. How would I make a slide show and import it? Or is there another very simple dvd author that alows me to make a slide show? Not nero.

  9. load the MPEG into MPEG-VCR. it can (attempt) to fix GOP errors without re-encoding. sometimes you need to re-sync the audio after this.

On the slide show question, you might take a look at https://www.videohelp.com/tools?tool=171#comments....

or perhaps another poster can give you a better/simpler idea.
