  1. Hi

I have read the guides in the guides forum on converting VCDs to DVDs, which might i add, is an awesome idea.

I decided to test it out and after a hiccups on my part, burnt a DVD. The first movie played fine. However the 2nd one went pixelated/blocky (not the usual vcd blocks, is it called scan blocks?) for a few seconds, then skipped about 30 minutes of the movie.

i tried reburning again and it happened again, but in a different point, later in the movie.

after a few more tests with different vcd sources, different dvd-rs and different processes and programs to convert vcd to dvd, i still get this problem.

is it something simple like i am burning to fast? (4 speed burn) i have even noticed this on a DVD to DVDR, but they were with cheapo discs, i am yet to burn a DVD to DVDR with the new discs on bought.

    thanks for your help

    matthew

edit: sorry forgot to meantion the following

burning programs used: TMPGENC DVD Author, Nero, DVDLab
DVD Writer: Liteon LDW-451S DVD +-

It could be the media you are burning to. What brand are you using. Have you tried playing the completed DVD with WinDVD or other DVD player program before burning to DVD.

  3. i have used 2 brands of dvd-rs. the first was just a generic cheap brand i bought when i first got the dvd writer, mainly for testing as i didn't want to waste good discs. the second is a brand called "Laser", i use their CD-Rs and have never had a problem.

i haven't tried playing it in a software player.
