Well, that should get the price wars going full steam again, goood for all of us. Also good for those that need drives repaired.
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they? -
That assumes that they can position themselves to sell cheaper than other OEM units??? With the new Pioneer (for example) being available OEM for around US$150-$175, how much cheaper can they go via Cendyne??? When the Pioneer 105 was $260 and the Cendyne with rebates was $150 of course they would get business. But I don't know if I would take an Cendyne warranty on an OEM Pioneer 107 if the price difference was only $25. There may no longer be room for a restructured Cendyne selling DVD Burners???

In order for the company to emerge from bankruptcy they have to have a realistic business plan. I would think we are about to enter the sub $100 dvd burner stage.
Personally I'm sticking with my 104 burning @ 2X.
At least until the come out with the 16X burners and then I'll upgrade to 8X.

But as the Burners get cheaper, the margins will probably get smaller. A profitable OEM margin on a Retail priced $300 burner (which Cendyne proved in the past they could not sustain long term) will be much less on a unit you can get retail $200 (and OEM for $150). So if they are selling a SUB $100 Burner the margin is probably even smaller???
The press release implied that another company (GENICA CORPORATION) has taken over Cendyne's Assets (did that really require an effective business plan or just agree to be responsible for Cendyne's debts), Genica could find themselves in the same exact situation as Cendyne (Of course Genica could be much bigger and have deeped pockets to lose money from...)Cendyne/Pioneer 105 & 104 with a Dazzle* Hollywood DV-Bridge. -

If it's the same company, they may do all right. I picked up some swappable drive bays from compgeeks.com that were made by genica. They are great and the price was cheap. Have had them for over two years, no problems.
