    Hi,

I have media studio 7 and I can frameserve direct from the timeline to TMPGenc, but I just prefer the layout of Vegas for juggling files about, and I wanted to know if it's possible to Frameserve to TMPGenc

    Thanks
    Scott

  3. Be careful with this plug-in. I use it and like it a lot but it causes 2 problems (I use it with Vegas Video):

    1) Once installed Vegas Capture no longer works

    2) It reverses the field order

I tore my hair out for a week before I found the solution to why Vegas could no longer capture. Fortunately debugmode.com has a moderately active forum which has a discussion of these problems:

    http://www.debugmode.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?fid=29

For the field order problem, I just tell tmpgenc to encode top field first instead of bottom and my video looks normal again. AFAIK this problem exists with all flavors of the frameserver (Premier, MS7, & Vegas)
I have nothing profound to say, so I'll just mention some things I really like (in no particular order): Tivos, Audis, Isuzu Troopers, Canon camcorders, Macs.

  4. As with all of this stuff, it depends ...

I have had the frameserver installed for quite some time.

I have not had a problem with Vegas capture.

I haven't had a problem with reversing field order.

    Obviously check your setup.

    Same here.

I too have been using the frameserver, only I'm using Premiere. I never had the fields reversed! You probably have the fields setting wrong. Check the PluinPack Codec settings, it should be set to Lower Field First if you're using DV-AVI.
Got my retirement plans all set. Looks like I only have to work another 5 years after I die........

  6. I wish I could check my setup -but there isn't any in the frameserver. Rendering to DV AVI in Vegas, bottom field first selected, then encoding with TMPGEnc with bottom field first selected, perfect. Frameserving from Vegas (are you using 3 or 4?) to TMPGEnc, bottom field first selected in Vegas, bottom field first selected in TMPGEnc, bad flicker. As I said I'm not the only one who's seen the problem....

Just trying to save a fellow enthusiast some trouble if they encounter the same problem. Now where was that link...?

  7. I was mostly directing my comment to "check your setup", to beammeup, as he may or may not have problems with the frameserver.

I was trying Vegas 4, but have since removed it, so I can't re-check, but I don't remember a field order problem, and I know I didn't have a problem with the Vegas capture. I am now back to MS7 and there is no field order problem with it.

  8. Found the link

Just so everyone knows I'm not making this up:

This was exactly the symptom I experienced and the fix that worked for me.
