well first you are have to encode them to mpeg2 dvd standard format -- and thats a seperate app except for a few 'all-in-one' out there ..
THEN you author them to dvd ...
do you mean best as in best ? then thats going to cost you $25,000
or do you mean best price vs. performace ratio ? how much do you want to spend -- for not a lot of money you can get dvdlab or tmpgenc author .. both fine products that may be all you need .. and have a lot of advanced features ..."Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
best in terms of the BEST! I dont care if its free or if i have to spend 25,000 dollars. Just want something that is good, and is quality.
Also... i hve to convert the divx or avi to mpeg? no possible other way to just do it directly thanks -
well then you will want sonic scenarist system $25,000
a sdi hardware encoder anywhere from 25,000-75,000$
a digital betacam , 60,000$+ (though you could use SonY IMX also for only $30,000)
a system to run this all on plus nessessary software / hardware and raid $10,000-$100,000"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -
ok ok... well not maybe 25000, but i meant a few hundred at most! lol thanks ur help is appreciated

of it would greatly help to have the original film files -- figure on another $50,000 - $100,000 per film to digitize them. Or more if you want to do to HD..

oh -- in that case , for a few hundred .. look at the tmpgenc products ..they have an all in one system that will convert your avi's and author and even burn ..

ok i will do that but now this leads to my following question. Does TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.5 have the same features as TMPGEnc Plus 2.5... in the sense that it will change my avi, divx, to an mpeg??? or do i need both to do what i need.
Also when changing an avi to mpeg will i lose audio and visual qulity in the process or will it stay the same. Thanks! -
TMPGEnc DVD Author makes your dvd with dvd menu and all so the VOB files and there you can have a track and chapter just like a real dvd. TMPGEnc Plus just makes the mpeg files if i'm right
