  1. Hi,
I am editing a video on Adobe Premiere and I want to output it to a web format. It could be a mpg, but I need to make the file smaller.
When I just export the file from premiere it's 11MB bg for 1 minute of action.
How can I compress or make the file smaller for web viewing??
    Thanks for helping.

Either (a) change your MPEG bitrate, (b) decrease the frame size or (c) encode in another format such as Windows Media (recommended).

Go to http://www.windowsmedia.com/ and download the Windows Media encoder. The rest is pretty self-evident. And if not, you can always post the questions here.

  5. The series 9 encoder is aborting all the time.
How do I get to have the option to export to windows media from Premiere 6.5?
I download the new windows media encoder, but it's a standalone program.
    Thanks

  6. I already downloaded the plugin for premiere and now I can export to windows media.
But what would be a good format for werb viewing? Considering part of the audience is broadband and part dial up.
All files I am making are looking too big for web.
    Thanks

  7. Perhaps offer 2 version, one for ppl with fast connection, one for slow.

Just give links to both and let the user decide.

  8. That's what I want to do, but it used to be a lot easier in the past.
The smaller decent version that I was able to do for windows media for a 1 minute video was 1.6MB.
I thought I could make it smaller and still decent.
With real media, I made it 900k.

There are some options on the windows media export plugin like CBR, VBR, peak somthing, etc...
    What do they mean?

How is the media player working nowadays? will it start downloading and playing the video while it still loads the rest of the file?

What is a decent file size for 56k dial-up connections?

What are the options you choose when exporting the video to windows media formar?

    Thanks a lot for helping.

  9. CBR is constant bitrate - this keeps the bitrate the same no matter how much movement there is (filesizes are bigger).

VBR is variable bitrate, where the bitrate alters to the amount of movement. When there is no movement a lower bitrate is used, where as on high movement more bitrate is used (can make for smaller filesizes).

For dial uppers I think no more than 1mb, but for people on fast connections or those who want quality i'd say 5mb is fine. Of course it depends what content you are wanting people to download.

  10. Any trick to have optmum quality and small size for windows media. I still don't get.
Quality is VERY BAD in files under or around 1.5MB for a 1 minute sport video.
I chose VBR, I also tried chaging the bitrate.
Put sound on the worst quality, etc...
How would you set those options?
    Thanks
