I have a Sony DW-U10A (same as U510A?) drive that is about 6 months old. It now will not read a disc placed in the tray. It nakes a mechanical "clicking" sound and gives a read error. It does not matter what media I use or even if it is an official release DVD. I called Sony and they won't replace it under warrenty because it is an OEM drive, which I bought from livewarehouse.com. They still have this drive for sale on their website, and list it with a 1 year warrenty.
Has anyone had this problem with any drive Sony or otherwise? Any suggestions as to what could be wrong?
Thanks,
Bryan

In my experience with almost all types of PC hardware I've come across, clicking is A BAD THING. If it's an OEM drive, you probably need to contact Livewarehouse for support. Hard to say for certain without looking at it, but as Bones would say...'It's dead Jim.' (but don't quote me on that).
Nothing can stop me now, 'cause I don't care anymore. -
Just read your post and I am having the same problem with my TDK 420N burner. A few clicks after the tray goes in and "no disc in drive E:\" error message. Went to Best Buy to get a lens cleaner but when I described the probem a salesman said it was probably dead and that it has exceeded it's burn max of 350?l
I will try to get a new one from TDK.
