    Hello,
    My DVD player is a Philips 701. I am thinking about buying a PAL region free DVD. Does anyone know if the DVD will play properly on my TV? Will it show up in color?

    Check out the "DVD Players" section to the left of the screen here.
    If you put in your DVD player brand and model you'll find out what success (and failures) other people have had with various formats on your model. I did a quick look at Philips 701 and it looks like it does NOT handle PAL to NTSC conversions.
