Thinking of buying the Sony DCR-TRV19 camcorder, but have been hearing conficting info about this model. Is it true that the US model doesent have an analog AV input with Pass through,BUT the UK model does ???
Some UK stores mention an analog input, others dont ?I know the TRV14 doesent have this function, but the TRV22 does,as its clearly stated on the Sony web page..
Anyone know for sure.Anyone got one in the UK and used this function ? Does it work well enough ?? Dont really want to spend the extra cash on the TRV22 model..
Also, why dont Sony let you download there pdf manuals for there products ? Its very hard to find info about things, simple things, like does it have Mac software ,etc,etc..Every other company lets you download there manuals ?????
1 last question. It says 95 mins of recording time, but 12 hours battery life.Does this mean you will get only 95 minutes of recording time on a fully charged battery, and will get 12 hours standby time on a fully charged battery that doesent get used ?
Thanks,newbie...Thrum..
The main reasons i am thinking about this model is its meant to be good video qaulity, and also it is possible to buy an accessery add on, mono,or stereo microphone to improve audio recordings which is important for me.

Answer,(from the horses mouth,so it must be correct ehh ??perhaps).. No,the Sony DCR-TRV19 Does Not have an analogue Input,or a Pass Through function, here in the UK,at least..
The next model up does, the DCR-TRV22,and is stated on the web sites.
Ive noticed the US sony site is much more informed then the UK one,and i was able to download a pdf spec manual, and find out other things that were usefull.
Also, thanks to Sony UK for phoning me back,(the same day),with this information.
So,im going to buy my first camcorder tomorrow, the DCR-TRV22 model,as it has what i want. A mic input, analogue input with pass through, and is meant to be good video quality,(hopingly: ))
Boy,its been stressfull,and i havent even got it yet..Wish me well .
Now wondering though if it would be worth while, spending another £50,and get the model above the 22,the TRV33,as that is 1.0 magapixels, opposied to 0.8 pixels.. Wonder if there is that much difference ?? Anyone know ?If not the 22 it is me thinks ???

Thrum.
I went through this exact thing about a year ago.
The 19 does not have anlogue-digital passthrough the 22 does. In addition the 22 has a colour viewfinder (the 19's is black and white) and it has some additional onboard digital effects. The 33 as you say has slightly better resolution stills but they are still very low grade. If you have a 2+ megapixel digital still camera then forget the 33. The 33 also has slightly worse low light capability, but filters out a bit more purple fringing.
I bought the 22 and love it. For much more information from users go to www.camcorderinfo.com. Its worth its weight in gold.
Hazza.
PS - Sony have also announced the models to supersede the 19/22/33. Can get info from camcorderinfo. -
Be careful. The US allows camcorders with pass through to be sold as is. The Europe treats the pass through function as being something like a vcr video recorder and disables this function when it is sold in Europe. There are ways to re-enable this function but just be aware of what you are getting.

why is nothinng easy ?? Hazza, thanks for your info, and espescially that link,as it has a dedicated Sony TRV 19,22 & 33 forum,( as well as other manufactors),and reviews etc.
So,you say your TRV 22 does have a pass through function, but where do you live,Europe or the US ??
Ive just ordered the TRV22,an hour ago, here in the UK.It should arrive tomorrow.I also ordered the UK model,ie,DCR-TRV22E,opposied to the model number without the E suffix, which is meant to be the US model NTSC thing, but with the E suffix is for European Pal..
But now, whats this troyvcd1. Are you saying that the European E model might not have a Pass Through function. Dont say that man.I could have ordered the US model i think.Abit late now.
But come on,that guy at Sony UK yesterday told me it has a Pass Through function,so i hope he is right.
No more stress, please Sony.. -
It may have pass through especially if the UK sony guy said it does. I am not sure what countries disable this pass through function. Maybe they dont do this in UK

Got the TRV22E today,so here is the definitive answer. YES,the TRV22E and 33E both have the analogue to digital conversion, and the pass through function.
P112 tells you that you can record from a vcr onto the19E, 22E & 33E cams tape,but on P 238,it tell how only the 22E and the 33E pass through the cam,from a vcr,onto a computer.
So,there it is.Thanks for the assurances along the way.
Kind regards,
