I get AT LEAST 3-5 of these per week. I hate them. I'll never use their cards.

Does anybody else get a lot of these?

Loads, but not in the UK and not citibank.
I even get them from the credit card company I'm with.
    Clever eh?

my 4 year old daughter was getting one a week there for a while.... preapproved!!

I started calling the companys and told them who they were sending too... lo and behold... none since December....

I get about 3-5 a week myself..... I even get ones for my home's previous owner! (been dead about 7 years now)

  5. If they come with return postage paid envelopes then just stuff whatever is handy (food scraps, other junk mail etc) into the return envelope and post it back.

  7. I mail them my other junk mail, Nothing that has my name back to them. I do that will all my cc aplications. My co-workers said I should get a box of rocks tape the envolope to the box and mail it. They get charge the postage. If everybody did this might re-consider sending out these apps.

  8. I use them as kindling for our fireplace. There's enough of 'em showing up in our mailboxes.

You are filling those out and sending them back, right?
Hope is the trap the world sets for you every night when you go to sleep and the only reason you have to get up in the morning is the hope that this day, things will get better... But they never do, do they?

No, they don't. Common misconception. These things are all business reply mail, so if they're over the size or weight limits they just get thrown away.

I would apply, but I have insufficient (sp?) credit history. I would never receive a card even though ALL of them say I'm preapproved. I get about 3-5 of these a day.

Yeah, you can't get a credit card because you don't have enough of a credit history, but the guy down the street who's $50k in debt and already has six or eight cards can get another one with a $10k credit limit to start. Getting started is hard, especially since it takes a whole lot longer to build a decent credit history when you act like a responsible adult.

One of these companies turned down my "preapproved" application a few years ago. Now I've established a solid credit history and they send me an ad for a platinum card most weeks. I sometimes throw them away, sometimes mark them "refused, return to sender", and sometimes open them and send the empty envelope back.

I did have Citibank and Virgin CC applications in the mail recently.

They both bothered me before, unwanted promotions in the mail. They were so annoying and thrown in the bin. I reckon one CC is enough.

I also sometimes get international lottery scam letters as well.
