I received a disc in the mail today with 2 files on it: a DV.avi file that had been edited and resaved in VirtualDub, and the resulting TMPGEnc VideoCD project.
There is audio drift in the VideoCD file, but not in the edited DV.avi file when played on the computer. We are drifting about 1 second per 30 minutes of video.
Here was the process used to capture the DV.avi:
* Canopus ADVC-100
* VirtualDub
* TMPGEnc Plus
* VCDEasy
I'm in the process of getting version numbers, IEEE hardware description, and all the other finer points. However, something interesting happened that made me think to post this.
I ran Jeffry Johnston's AVIFix program and then encoded to VideoCD. The audio drift is still present. I encoded to SVCD and the same thing happened.
The DV.avi file was a Dish Network broadcast. I do this type of recording often enough that even I'm stumped. The logical problem is TMPGEnc, since this is the point where the drift becomes evident.
Am I missing anything obvious here?
